The quote that I chose for my typography poster is from a craft channel on YouTube called “Evan and Katelyn”. I chose this quote because I often forget words and how to use them.

The goal is to survive after melting polar ice caps cause the earth to flood. To design this board game, I created illustrations for the back of four different types of playing cards, the game board, and the box. I also designed various tokens and custom 3D-modelled dice.

To play Global Melt, you first roll the two dice. The direction dice shows which way to move (N- North, E- East, S- South, W- West, ?- Any direction, C- Pick up a movement card) and the number dice tells you how many squares to move.

The goal is to collect ‘DNA tokens’ (small green tokens which can be won or lost through game events, activated by landing on an icon on the board and reading a corresponding card) that are traded for ‘Mutation Coins’ (blue and gold coins that are kept until the end of the game). 10 DNA – 1 Mutation.

Once all of the Mutation Coins have been claimed, the game ends, and the player/s who ‘mutated’ the most ‘survive’ and win the game.

After receiving it a randomly selected country, I was tasked to design a high-end chocolate box based on Jamaica. The brief for this project asked to “be able to see the country without reading the label”.

After researching possible options for this design, I settled on creating a Rastafari style drum, with each of the coloured bands displaying a different Jamaican national item. The red band features the hibiscus flower from the Blue Mahoe national tree. The yellow band shows the national Ackee fruit. The green band displays the national bird, the Doctor Bird.

When designing the top label, I created a patterned boarder from the Jamaican flag. After finalising my design, I created a 3D model of the chocolate box in Cinema 4D and rendered images from it (images displayed here are rendered from the 3D model).
